It's a bloody supermoon!

Full Text:

Stargazers in many parts of the world were treated to a rare sight last night: a supermoon eclipse, the first of its kind since 1982, and the last we'll see until 2033. The supermoon phenomenon occurs when the moon is full at its perigee - the closest part of its orbit around Earth (226,000 miles), meaning it appears larger in the sky.

The reddish hue is created by the shadow Earth makes as the moon passes behind it, a phenomenon that inspired the name “blood moon.” Viewers lucky to be in North America, South America, West Africa and Western Europe could also enjoy this blood moon as a total lunar eclipse.
