The rocky shores and isolated beaches of Anacapa Island are tremendously important as haul-out and rookery sites for harbor seals and California sea lions. Anacapa Island is a small volcanic island located about 11 miles off the coast of Port Hueneme, Calif., and part of the Channel Islands National Park.
It provides a critical habitat for seabirds and several endemic plants.Image credit: National Park Service
